How to play

Start in 5 steps

1. Add YomePiano Online to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store (the button above).
2. Open any YouTube video.
3. Click the YomePiano icon and pick a mode in the Game tab.
4. Press Start. The menu closes and the video plays.
5. Notes come to you on the beat of the music. Hit them right on time!

Three game modes

• Piano: press the key shown on each lane when a note reaches the line. Hold the key on long notes. Play with 4 to 8 keys.
• Neon Sword: hold the left mouse button (or Z) to light the sword, then swipe through the blocks.
• Box Jump: hold the mouse button (or Z) and swipe through each box when it reaches the top of its jump.

Where the notes come from

There are no ready-made charts. YomePiano listens to the video's sound on your computer and makes the notes as the song plays, from the music, from the singer's voice, or from both. That is why it works on any video, and why the same song can give slightly different notes each time.

In the Notes tab you choose what the notes follow, how sensitive the detection is and how close together notes may be. More notes makes a song harder and lets you score higher.

Scores and grades

• PERFECT is worth 300 points, GREAT 180 and GOOD 80. A long combo adds a little to every hit.
• Golden special notes pay double. Long notes pay while you hold them.
• Your grade comes from accuracy: S from 95%, A from 88%, B from 75%, C from 60%.

Playing online

• Install YomePiano Online and sign in with Google. You pick your own display name; your Google name is never shown.
• Every run you play is sent when it ends, including runs you stopped early. A longer run simply scores more.
• Each song has one board for each game mode. Your best run on each board is kept.
• Seeking in the video or changing its speed resets the score, so a run cannot skip the hard parts.
• While you play, a small panel shows the best player on that board at the same point of the song (their "ghost"), and anyone else playing the same video right now with their score as it changes.
• Other players see you the same way while you play. Turn off "Show me while I play" in the extension's menu if you would rather not be shown.
• You can delete your account and all your scores at any time on the Account page.

The daily video

• Every day at 00:00 UTC (07:00 in Thailand) there is a new daily video, the same for everyone. Its page is Daily video in the menu.
• Play it in any mode, with any settings. Your first run on each mode is your score for the day, played to the end or stopped part way (a run must last at least 50 seconds to count, unless the video ends sooner); later runs still count on the video's normal board.
• Play the daily video on days in a row to build a streak.
